Calculation impact: Assumptions updated

Added

  • A Quick Estimate entry experience with eight pre-filled fields and immediate after-tax monthly income, spending target, gap or surplus, and savings-longevity results.
  • An optional RRSP/RRIF, TFSA, and cash or other savings split, with conservative registered-account treatment when no split is supplied.
  • A Continue to the full estimator handoff that carries household details, projected retirement balances, CPP, OAS, workplace pension, account mix, and spending into the detailed form.

Changed

  • The estimator page now opens in quick mode, while the existing detailed estimator remains available as the refinement step or directly at /estimator#full-estimator.
  • Advanced the estimator ruleset to canada-ontario-2026.4, adding the current 2026 average and maximum CPP-at-65 benchmarks and replacing rounded GIS planning caps with the published July to September 2026 maximum amounts.
  • Quick mode automatically includes simplified GIS, individual OAS recovery tax, the OAS increase at age 75, a pre-65 retirement bridge, and same-age couple assumptions without adding blocking questions.

The website release date identifies the deployed site package. Government amounts and program rules have their own effective periods; confirm important decisions with the official sources linked throughout RetireON.

Previous releases

RetireON Release 2026.07.19.2 — July 19, 2026

Calculation impact: No calculation impact

Added

  • Local Save scenario and Load scenario controls for restoring all estimator inputs from a versioned JSON file without sending financial information to RetireON.
  • Two Ontario guides covering elder financial abuse and fraud response, and the first 90 days after the death of a spouse or parent.

Changed

  • Clarified that the $705 monthly OAS amount in the clawback worked example is hypothetical, not the 2026 maximum, and added regression checks for the official 2026 recovery thresholds.
  • Standardized every page on a visible Last reviewed date sourced from release metadata, replacing inconsistent page-specific dates.
  • Added complete Open Graph and Twitter preview-card metadata to every page, using page-specific titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, content types, and a shared RetireON image.

Calculation impact: Calculation logic corrected—rerun saved scenarios

Added

  • A public Updates page with website-release, handbook-edition, estimator-ruleset, and calculation-impact information.
  • A visible footer link for reporting site errors by email.

Changed

  • Expanded the estimator introduction and results language to clarify its educational scope, simplified assumptions, and modelling limitations.
  • Included a privacy reminder confirming that estimator amounts are processed in the browser and are not sent to RetireON.
  • Standardized public page links, canonical URLs, Open Graph URLs, and search results on extensionless paths.
  • Updated the Guides-page wording so it does not depend on a fixed guide count.
  • Strengthened release, deployment-output, navigation, link, and production verification checks.

Corrected

  • The estimator's 2026 maximum combined survivor-and-retirement CPP benchmark at age 65, from $1,507.65 to $1,531.56 per month. Rerun survivor scenarios that used the estimator approximation.
  • The missing legislated 10% OAS enhancement at age 75. It is now applied when the entered amount does not already include it, with separate amount-basis controls to prevent double counting. Rerun projections that reach age 75.
