Who is affected?

Federal public-service employees who applied for the one-time incentive and are awaiting or acting on confirmation. Eligibility, approval, pension calculations, and employment arrangements remain person-specific.

What is the impact?

An approved retirement can provide an immediate pension without the normal early-retirement reduction, based on pensionable service to the retirement date. It does not add years of service. Applicants must also understand the temporary bridge benefit, the effect of CPP timing, retiree health and dental coverage, survivor choices, and the timing and tax treatment of final employment payments.

What should you do?

Get a personalized pension estimate, confirm the final work and retirement dates in writing, and complete every Pension Centre document promptly. Do not treat a preliminary confirmation as final pension validation.
